La Evolucion Sacramento

La Evolucion Dance Company started two new dance teams in the Sacramento area in January 2008. The "Grupo Evolucion" is the Training team and is formed by dancers with minimal formal dance experience or training. They study dance and performance techniques as well as footwork and turn patterns. Their ultimate goal is to be able to perform and transition to the next group level. "Evolucion Sacramento" is the performance team of La Evolucion Dance Company. It currently has six active members including Roxana Borrego, Jose Borrego, Juan Hernandez, Sandy Cabrera, Jairo Pedraza, and Dominique Del Chiaro. Members of this group have some prior dance and performance experience, and are considered intermediate or advanced dancers. They also study dance and performance techniques, footwork, turn patterns, and lifts/tricks. As the performance group, they will be featured in local shows in the coming months. We started these dance teams with the purpose of creating exciting dance numbers, inspiring dancers of various ages and backgrounds, and energizing the Sacramento salsa scene. Our mission is to teach salsa dance, its technique and related elements in order to preserve and promote the beauty of this dance form and share it with the community. We want to foster creativity, physical fitness, positive self-esteem, discipline, social etiquette, and friendships through dance. We also want to teach the art of safely combining aerials and lifts with dance and to elevate the excitement and entertainment value of our work.
